A History of Stability
Farmers Insurance opened our doors for business over 80 years ago at a time that tested our mettle and defined our character. It was 1928 - a year before The Crash and the start of the Great Depression. A time when readiness was more important than ever. Since those tough times, we've done business in depressions, recessions, wars and every possible climate and condition in between. And although we started in farming communities we've grown into the nation's 3rd largest personal insurance provider with agents in small towns, big towns and major cities all across the nation. Along the way, we've taken the attitudes learned from our early farming customers with us: straightforward, financially conservative, caring for the community, and always ready. Ideals that have helped people all across America who grow other things like children, lives, careers, and small businesses.
What separates us from the pack? Our people.
We have over 15,000 agents that work hard for over 15 million Where you find Farmers, you find solid ground. To us Farmers is more than a name; it's an outlook. A way of seeing the world. Prudently, yet optimistically. Grounded, yet careful to avoid undue risk. In uncertain times, we offer a measure of certainty. Which is why we don't invest in things that have gotten other companies into trouble. We don't invest in junk bonds or financial derivatives. And we don't buy or sell credit default swaps. In the midst of the current economic turmoil, our insurance financial strength rating was recently upgraded by Moody's from A3 to A2. Other recent accolades include a rating of Strong by S&P and a financial strength rating of Excellent by A.M. Best & Company. Further testament to our readiness.
